The monsoon session of Parliament is going to start from July 19 and ahead of this, Congress can take steps towards a change of leadership in the Lok Sabha. Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, MP from Baharampur seat of West Bengal, is the LS Congress leader. He is also the President of the party’s West Bengal unit.

Earlier there was speculation about Sonia Gandhi replacing Chowdhury, currently, several other names such as Shashi Tharoor and Manish Tiwari are reported to be in consideration.

The Monsoon session of Parliament will be held from July 19 to August 13. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla informed about the same on Monday. It will have 19 working days.

Om Birla said that all protocols related to Covid will be followed during the session. Those who have not received their Coronavirus vaccination will be asked to undergo an RT-PCR test before entering the Parliament premises.

Addressing a press conference in the Parliament House complex, the Speaker said that 323 MPs have been fully vaccinated against COVID, while 23 MPs have not been able to take the first dose of vaccine due to some medical reasons.

While taking stock of preparations for the upcoming session earlier today, the speaker further informed that the timings of the session will be from 11 am to 6 pm for both the Houses.

The monsoon session, which usually starts in July, began in September last year due to the coronavirus pandemic. A day before the session begins, floor leaders will have an all-party meeting on July 18.
