Pune (Maharashtra) [India]: An FIR was launched against some unknown individuals for ripping off the Product Institute of India for more than Rs. 1 crore, stated the authorities on Sunday.
The scammers ripped off the SII for the institute’s chief executive officer Adar Poonawala. The incident came to light just after a substantial quantity of Rs. 1.1 crore was moved by one of the directors, Satish Deshpande. As per official documents, the scamsters posed as Poonawala and sent out WhatsApp messages to Deshpande and asked to move cash to different savings account promptly.
Thinking that messages are from Adar Poonawala more than Rs. 1,01, 01,554 crore was transferred to those accounts by the finance division in different transactions, just to belatedly realise that the SII was fooled.
” After becoming aware that Adar Poonawala had actually never ever requested such transfers or sent messages to the Finance Manager of SII made a created issue in Bundgarden police station and later, cops signed up an FIR under the area of IPC 419, 420,34 and IT Represent probing the situation further,” stated Pune Authorities.
The purchases were made on September 7 as well as 8 this year.
More examinations are underway.
