43 ministers take oath

The rejig of the Modi Cabinet, first of the BJP-led NDA government’s second term, comes after a detailed review of performance of ministries by PM Modi himself and Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP president JP Nadda.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday made big changes in his Cabinet. As many as 43 new ministers were took oath of office at as simple event at the Rashtrapati Bhawan in Delhi. The major revamp, which include several new faces as well as elevation of many existing ministers, was the first since the 2019 when the BJP-led NDA won a massive majority. Among the top new entrants were Narayan Rane, Sarbananda Sonowal, Jyotiraditya Scindia, Pasupati Paras, while Harsh Vardhan, who helmed the post of Health Minister, Ramesh Pokhriyal, Babul Supriyo were among the ones who lost their place in in the Modi Cabinet. The Cabinet reshuffle has some months ahead of crucial Assembly elections in states like Uttar Pradesh and Punjab next year.

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called a meeting of his news ministers on Thursday, 5 PM. As many as 15 Cabinet Ministers took oath on Wednesday. 22 leaders were sworn-in as Minister of State.

  • John Barla takes oath to be part Modi Cabinet-John Barla is a Lok Sabha MP for Alipurduars in West Bengal, serving his 1st term as MP. He has worked tirelessly for the rights of tea garden workers, primarily in North Bengal and Assam for 2 decades. Coming from a humble background, he had started of as a tea garden worker at the tender age of 14. He is from Jalpaiguri, West Bengal.
