Bhanwala bags bronze, gives India rapid-fire pistol World Cup medal after 12 year
New Delhi: Young Anish Bhanwala broke the 12-year jinx of an Indian not winning a 25m rapid-fire pistol medal when he bagged bronze in the event on the last day of the ISSF World Cup Rifle/Pistol in Cairo on Thursday.
This is the 20-year-old’s first senior individual World Cup medal and it came after three hard-fought shoot-offs.
Before Bhanwala, the only Indian to have won medals in the event at the international stage was Vijay Kumar, who clinched silver at the 2012 London Olympics and had two podium finishes at World Cups.
