Rituparna Joins Hands With Bappi Lahiri For ‘Phoolmoti’

We have seen her in a wide range of roles over the years and this Durga Puja seasoned actress Rituparna Sengupta came up with a melodious surprise. She joined hands with singer-composer Bappi Lahiri for a vibrant folk song.

It’s a duet song from Bappi Lahiri and Rituparna titled ‘Phoolmoti’. The refreshing song has a folk tune perfect to match the spirit of Ma Durga and it surely brightens up the festivities.

The 68 year-old singer-composer gave a modern twist to the Bengali folk song while Rituparna’s refreshing voice makes the song a special one. Lahiri who has even added a rap portion in the number says he always wanted to explore the musical side of Rituparna. “I have seen Ritu’s works over the years and I know her voice. When I decided to create a fresh song for Durga Puja, she was the first person I thought about. Who could have pulled it off better than Ritu? We both share similar sentiments for folk songs and the spirit of Durga Puja,” shares Bappi Lahiri.

On the other hand, Rituparna says she has always loved to sing. “I have always had a knack for singing. I have sung Rabindra Sangeet in some movies but never recorded a wonderful unique piece like this on a tune given by Bappi Da. When Bappi Da came up with the song to record with me, I knew it’s the best opportunity for me to discover the singer in me,” added the actress.
