Bhubaneswar, Aug 06: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today spoke to the Indian
Women’s hockey team through video conferencing and congratulated them for putting up a
brave fight against Britain in Tokyo Olympics.
India women Hockey team lost to Britain 3-4 in a tough fight for the bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics.
Great Britain were the Gold medalist in the 2016 Rio Olympics and number 4 in world ranking.
After the Match the Chief Minister while talking to the team members said, “Girls, you have
worked very hard and played very well. You lost a game, but won our hearts. Congratulations to
all of you because of the hard work you have put in and playing so well,” he said.
“You will be coming over here (Odisha) on August 17. We will all meet then,” Mr Patnaik said.
In return a team member thanked the Chief Minister and Odisha government for supporting and helping them. “You have played a big role in our journey and therefore credit also goes to you,”
she told Mr Patnaik.
The Chief Minister said, “all of you have a long road ahead, keep working hard. Be happy and
keep well.’’
