The much-awaited glimpse of SS Rajamouli’s Jr NTR, Ram Charan and Alia Bhatt starrer RRR finally released on Monday and boy was it worth the wait.
Sharing the teaser, the social media handle of RRR wrote, “The era of #RRRMovie has just begun! Presenting the much anticipated #RRRGlimpse….Let’s together bring back the glory of Indian cinema. In cinemas from 7th Jan 2022. (sic)” The 40-seconds-long glimpse sees the rise of Indians against British rule in bits and pieces. It also shows Ram Charan and Jr NTR in their element, giving a glimpse of their look, costumes and more in the film. The teaser however doesn’t hold any dialogues for those looking forward to their diction in the film. Jr NTR shared the teaser calling the film a ‘high voltage action-drama’ while Ram Charan called it a tale of ‘friendship and courage’.
The teaser was supposed to release on Friday when the filmmakers announced their tie-up with a massive theatres chain, however it was postponed due to the untimely demise of Kannada superstar Puneeth Rajkumar. The makers released the teaser at 11 AM today and fans, who were waiting in anticipation, kept trending the hashtag #RRRGlimpse on social media. A few days before an official announcement was even made, news was leaked and some even claimed to have already seen the teaser.
After the announcement about the tie-up, journalists in Mumbai caught a private glimpse of the teaser and were impressed. That just upped the anticipation for the teaser. RRR will hit screens on January 7, 2022 and tell the fictional tale of Komaram Bheem and Alluri Sitaramaraju. Jr NTR will play a tribal man fashioned after Bheem, Ram Charan a policeman based on Sitaramaraju while Alia plays his wife Sita. The film will also see Ajay Devgn, Shriya Saran, Alison Doody, Olivia Morris and others in key roles.
When the film was announced, SS Rajamouli had stated that he was inspired by Motorcycle Diaries to tell this tale. Seeing as how this is his next film after the magnum opus Baahubali, it remains to be seen if the film will receive the same kind of response. Baahubali did not just garner appreciation across the country, it received good response from other countries too. And going by the kind of promotions the makers of RRR are taking up, it seems like they’re aiming for the same this time around.
