Veteran actor Shivaram’s sad demise has left the entire Kannada Film Industry heavy-hearted. In a career that spanned across six decades, Shivaram stood as one of the most endearing figures of the film fraternity here for having shared the screen space with the biggest names such as Dr. Rajkumar, Ambareesh, and Dr. Vishnuvardhan. In his own right too, Shivaram was well regarded for his versatility and his comic timing, especially in his collaborations with the legendary Puttanna Kanagal in films ‘Gejje Pooje’, ‘Sharapanjara’, ‘Naagarahaavu’, and others. For his contributions to Indian cinema, he was awarded the Dr. Rajkumar Lifetime Achievement Award in 2011 and the Padmabhushan Dr. B. Sarojadevi National Award in 2013.

Former Karnataka CM B.S. Yediyurappa shared a long note in memory of actor Shivaram and acknowledged his influence on the Kannada region. “The news of veteran actor Shivaram’s passing has caused immense pain and grief. Having shared the screen space with the most accomplished in the industry, he had also worked as director and producer. He had also acted in many TV serials. With his passing, the region has lost a veteran artist – I had the chance of meeting him several times in the past and the fact that he isn’t among us anymore brings only pain to me. Praying for his soul, I ask that God grant the power to his family and fans. Om Shanti,” he wrote.
