Karnataka by-polls: 38.13 pc voter turnout recorded till 1 pm
Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India] : Karnataka recorded a voter turnout of 38.13 per cent till 1 pm in the ongoing by-polls in Hangal and Sindgi assembly constituencies on Saturday.
Voting for by-polls in these two constituencies started today at 7 am and will continue till 7.30 pm. As per the Election Commission of India (ECI) Hangal and Sindgi assembly constituencies reported voter turnout of 44.59 per cent and 32.49 per cent respectively till 1 pm. The counting of votes and announcement of results will take place on November 2.
Telangana by-poll: 45.63 pc voter turnout till 1 PM in Huzurabad
Hyderabad (Telangana : Huzurabad assembly constituency in Telangana reported a total voter turnout of 45.63 per cent for the by-poll by 1 pm on Saturday. Voting began at 7 am and will continue till 6:30 pm today. The result of the by-poll will be announced on November 2. Huzurabad seat fell vacant after former health minister Eatala Rajender resigned from ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and joined the BJP. On June 12, Rajender had submitted his resignation as Huzurabad MLA after he was sacked from the state Council of Ministers following allegations of land encroachments. The seat has become a battle of prestige for the ruling TRS and the Opposition alike.
Bihar by-polls: 21.79 pc voter turnout recorded till 11 am
Patna (Bihar) [India] : Bihar recorded a voter turnout of 21.79 per cent till 11 am in the two Assembly constituencies during the by-elections on Saturday. According to the election commission, the Kusheshwar Asthan assembly seat in Darbhanga recorded 20.25 per cent voter turnout while the Tarapur Assembly seat in Munger recorded 23 per cent voter turnout. The by-polls in the two assembly seats have become a battle of prestige for the ruling Janata Dal (United) and the main opposition party, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD). RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav himself campaigned at the Assembly constituencies after he returned to Bihar.

Earlier on Friday, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav had accused that the Nitish Kumar-led NDA government in the state of pressurising officials to make people vote in the favour of a specific party. Tejashwi also alleged that there is a lack of development in the state and said that had there been development, the government would have never needed to distribute gifts to people. In 2020, the ruling coalition, NDA secured a majority with 125-seats in the 243-seat strong Bihar Legislative Assembly of which BJP won 74 seats, Janata Dal (United) on 43 while eight seats were won by two other NDA constituents. The RJD, on the other hand, emerged as the single-largest party with 75 seats while Congress won only 19 of the 70 seats it had contested. Meanwhile, by-elections are being held in three parliamentary constituencies and 30 assembly constituencies in different states today. The counting of votes and announcement of results will be on November 2.
Mizoram by-polls: Tuirial records 28 pc voter turnout till 11 am
Aizawl (Mizoram) : Mizoram’s Tuirial assembly constituency recorded a voter turnout of 28 per cent till 11 am during the by-elections on Saturday. The by-poll to the seat in the Tuirial assembly constituency of the Kolasib district was necessitated due to the death of sitting MLA Andrew H Thangliana of Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM). Voting began at 7 am across 27 polling stations in Tuirial and will continue till 6 pm.

Himachal Pradesh by-polls: CM, his family cast vote in Mandi

Mandi (Himachal Pradesh) [India], October 30 (ANI): Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jairam Thakur and his family cast their votes for the ongoing by-poll in the Mandi Parliamentary constituency on Saturday. The chief minister and his family cast their votes at polling booth number 36 in Murhag in Mandi Parliamentary constituency. The Mandi constituency recorded a 17.74 per cent voter turnout till 11 am. The voter turnout for the other three assembly constituencies witnessing by-polls is 23.20 per cent. Arki recorded 23 per cent, Fatehpur recorded 21.90 per cent and Jubbal-Kotkhai recorded 25.02 per cent voter turnout till 11 am. The necessity to conduct a by-election for the Mandi Lok Sabha constituency and three assembly constituencies arose due to the deaths of sitting MP and MLAs on the respective seats. As per the official release, there are six candidates from Mandi parliamentary constituency including Brigadier Kushal Chand Thakur of BJP, Pratibha Singh of Indian National Congress, Ambika Shyam of Rashtriya Lokniti Party, Munshi Ram Thakur of Himachal Jankranti Party and independent candidates Anil Kumar and Subhash Mohan Snehi.

BJP’s Ratna Singh Pal, Congress Party’s Sanjay and Independent Jeet Ram are candidates from Arki assembly constituency. From the Fatehpur assembly constituency, a total of five candidates, Baldev Thakur of BJP, Bhawani Singh Pathania of Indian National Congress, Pankaj Kumar Darshi of Himachal Jankranti Party and independent candidates Dr Ashok Kumar Somal and Dr Rajan Sushant are in the fray. The four candidates from the Jubbal-Kotkhai assembly constituency are BJP’s Neelam Saraik, Indian National Congress’s Rohit Thakur, independent candidates Chetan Singh Bragta and Suman Kadam. Other than Himachal Pradesh, voting is underway in two more parliamentary seats and 27 other assembly constituencies in various states across the country today. The results of these polls will be announced on November 2. Out of 68 assembly seats in Himachal Pradesh, 43 are with the BJP whereas Congress has a hold of 19 seats. West Bengal by-polls: 45.37 pc voter turnout recorded till 1 pm
Kolkata (West Bengal) [India] : West Bengal recorded a voter turnout of 45.37 per cent till 1 pm in the ongoing by-elections to the four Assembly constituencies in the state on Saturday. According to the election commission, the Dinhata assembly seat recorded 47.83 per cent voter turnout while 52.19 per cent turnout was recorded in the Gosaba seat. Khardaha seat witnessed a voter turnout of 39.30 per cent whereas the Santipur seat recorded a 48.02 per cent turnout. The voting began at around 7 am and will continue till 6:30 pm on Saturday. Santipur and Dinhata seats fell vacant after BJP MP Jagannath Sarkar and Nishith Pramanik resigned from the assembly, respectively. Whereas, elections on the other two seats are being held as All India Trinamool Congress’ (TMC) MLAs Kajal Sinha (Khardah) and Jayanta Naskar (Gosaba) died due to COVID-19. There is a tough fight between the BJP and the TMC for retaining the seats they had and capturing the other two. TMC leader Sovandeb Chattopadhyay, who had resigned from the Bhabanipur constituency to facilitate Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s election to the Assembly, is fighting from Khardah. The Mamata Banerjee-led TMC registered a landslide victory in polls held earlier this year, winning 213 seats in the 294-member West Bengal assembly. The BJP emerged as the second-largest party with 77 seats. Other than West Bengal, voting is underway in three parliamentary seats and 26 other assembly constituencies in various states across the country today. Bengal by-polls: Obstructed by TMC workers while going to cast vote, alleges BJP candidate from Dinhata
Cooch Behar (West Bengal) [India] : The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate from Dinhata Assembly seat in Cooch Behar, Asoke Mandal, on Saturday alleged that Trinamool Congress (TMC) workers tried to stop him while he was going to cast his vote at booth number 291 at Dinhata High School. Meanwhile, West Bengal recorded a voter turnout of 28.38 per cent till 11 am in the four Assembly constituencies during the by-elections on Saturday. According to the election commission, the Dinhata assembly seat recorded 28.73 per cent voter turnout while 33.87 per cent turnout was recorded on the Gosaba seat.
