‘Belashuru’ To Hit Big Screens On May 20

After much delay due to the pandemic, director duo Shiboprosad Mukherjee and Nandita Roy’s ‘Belashuru’ is finally releasing in theatres. But, you will have to wait for next year as the film, conceived as a prequel to ‘Belaseshe’ (2015), will hit the big screens on May 20, 2022.

It’s one of the last films of late Soumitra Chattopadhyay and Swatilekha Sengupta. ‘Belashuru’ will also have Rituparna Sengupta, Aparajita Adhya, Kharaj Mukherjee and Indrani Dutta reprising their roles that left us in awe 6 years ago.

Not just ‘Belashuru’, Shiboprosad and Nandita are eagerly waiting for a few other releases which have been made under the banner of their home production. “It has been a tough time through the pandemic with theatres across the nation being shut for a long time. Now, as the screens reopen, we are glad to announce the much-awaited releases of four films that we shot and completed in the hiatus. ‘Lokkhichhele’ and ‘Baba Baby O’ are making great chatter across film festivals even before the release and now we can’t wait to present our hard work to the audience,” Shiboprosad shared while speaking about the upcoming releases they are looking forward to.

‘Belashuru’ is close to the director duo’s hearts since it will be a tribute to Soumitra and Swatilekha. They had worked with Soumitra Chattopadhyay in films like ‘Bela Sheshe’, ‘Praktan’ and ‘Posto’, while in ‘Bela Sheshe’ and ‘Posto’ the Soumitra-Swatilekha pair had delivered a supreme performance. So when ‘Belashuru’ releases it will be an emotional roller coaster ride for the entire cast and crew of the film.
