Kabul : A total of 29 militants have been confirmed dead as fighting planes struck Taliban fighters’ gathering in Tepa area of Afghanistan’s northern Jawzjan province on Monday, the Defense Ministry said in a statement released on Tuesday.
Three key Taliban commanders were among those killed in the air raids along the road linking Jawzjan to the neighboring Sari Pul province, the statement said.
A large quantity of arms and ammunitions of the militants were also destroyed in the airstrikes, the statement added.
Taliban militants have yet to comment on the incident. The militant group has overrun more than a dozen districts in Jawzjan and the neighboring Faryab, Balkh and Sari Pul provinces over the past two months.
