Team ‘Daredevil Musthafa’ To Release A Special Animation Song Tribute To Dr. Rajkumar

The team ‘Daredevil Musthafa’ has made quite a name for itself with it all the pre-release activity. Right from unveiling the title through a series of fun, candid videos to introducing the principal cast of the film through a funky technique called Retrogram, there’s been no dearth of creativity in this case. In the same vein, the team was to also release a special animation song tribute to the late Dr. Rajkumar back in April (on his birth anniversary) but refrained from doing so due to the second wave of the pandemic.

“The idea was to release the tribute song on April 24th but the pandemic was so intense at the time that it didn’t feel right to share a song that is celebratory in nature. So, we decided on keeping the release on hold and Dasara now seems like the perfect occasion to bring it out. We plan on inviting Puneeth Rajkumar sir for a special screening and once we are through with that, the song will be released sometime this week” shares Shashank Soghal, the director of ‘Daredevil Musthafa’.

The animation tribute is based on the very popular theatre song Ninnanthor Yaaru Ilavallo, written and composed by the legendary B.V. Karanth in honor of the erstwhile Mysuru king Kanthirava Narasaraja I. The video rendition will reimagine Dr. Rajkumar as the Wodeyar ruler whose many adventures at the helm get explored in a fun-filled manner; the song has been recreated by composer Navneeth Shyam with Vasuki Vaibhav singing it. “The same song is used in the film as part of the college stage show but we all felt that there was a lot more visual scope to it. Since the film or the story couldn’t accommodate a special video, the team decided on conceiving a special animation tribute feature Dr. Raj and his many adventures as the famous Mysuru king,” adds Shashank. Interestingly, Dr. Rajkumar has portrayed Kanthirava Narasaraja I on screen in N.C. Rajan’s 1960 film ‘ Ranadheera Kanteerava’.

‘Daredevil Musthafa’ is an adaption of Poornachandra Tejaswi’s popular short story of the same name. An independent production, Shashank Soghal & Co. has procured funds for the film with the help of over 60 of Mr. Tejaswi’s ardent fans to make it a one-of-a-kind crowd-sourced venture. The team is currently engrossed in the post-production duties and is likely to release the film by the end of this year.
